Code of Conduct
Posted by: Web master, 25 August, 2010 in General News
Over the winter months the committee was keen to put together a Code of Conduct for all members of the club. This is not just confined to players but also supporters and anyone who represents the club. We are a strong and proud club with no history of any untoward behaivour and want to continue this one.
The code of conduct is an extension of this and the values we have been working on for the last season.
Please take the time to read the Code of Conduct.
CODE OF CONDUCT
In agreeing to play or be a supporter/member of with MOCCC this season, you have also agreed to abide by the Club’s Code of Conduct, whether at training, games, official functions or other occasions representing the Club.
Players and supporters with MOCCC all have a responsibility to uphold the reputation of the club, and to strive to truly reflect the values we have defined for ourselves:
o HONESTY
o FUN
o COMMITMENT
o RESPECT
o TEAMWORK
General expectations:
- Accept responsibility for your actions and decisions
- Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat
- Thank the opposition and officials at the end of the game
- Co-operate with your coach, teammates and opponents
- Do not taunt opposition players and supporters
- Treat all players and teammates as you would like to be treated
- Do not take unfair advantage, bully or interfere with another player
- If your teammate is the umpire, you walk if you know you’re out – don’t put your mate under pressure to make a decision
- Play to enjoy your cricket and to help others enjoy their cricket
- If unavailable or late for training, players are required to notify coaches as early as possible.
- Be appropriately dressed for training and for games
- Do not consume alcohol during games or training or present to play or train in an intoxicated state
- Inform coaching staff or selection committee if you are unavailable to a play a minimum of three (3) days prior to the scheduled game
- Pay all fees and subs by the due date. Failure to do so will result in players not being available for selection
The following behaviour may be considered to be in breach of the code:
- Aggressive, offensive language
- Racial or religious vilification (any act that is reasonably likely to threaten, disparage, vilify, offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate another person or group based on race, religion, descent, colour or national or ethnic origin)
- Questioning/disputing of the umpire's decision - applies equally to dismissals and unsuccessful appeals as to the judgment of calls on no-balls, wides, byes, etc
- Inappropriate actions of the dismissed batsman - in failing to leave the crease promptly on being given out and any equipment abuse (e.g. banging the bat into the ground or against the fence or race, etc. and/or throwing the bat or equipment during or after his return to the pavilion).
- "Send offs" - usually to a dismissed batsman by a member of the fielding side.
- Loss of temper. Verbal abuse of officials or other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent is not accepted in any sport.
As the behaviour of each individual who supports MOCCC reflects on every other person involved in MOCCC, it is the responsibility of the every person to ensure that any breach of this code is not accepted or condoned and such behaviours need to be challenged by everyone.
Whilst the Committee may have responsibility, where necessary, for any formal assessment, every member of the MOCCC community can ensure that any potential behavioural issue is addressed BEFORE it becomes a problem for the individual, committee and club.
Any misconduct will be dealt with by the MOCCC Committee or Selection Committee. Penalties may be handed out to any member who is deemed to be in breach of the Code of Conduct.
