A superman effort by Chama Jayaweera on the weekend booting 8 goals in Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club’s win over Ajax.
Chama was the star of the show booting 8 goals and showing all the skills that have made him one of the VAFA’s most dangerous players.
Chama sublime skills were on display and strong passing from Tim Bourbon and Sammy Reed helped Chama almost single handedly beat Ajax, who are third on the ladder.
Chama’s 8 goals were more than Ajax kicked for the entire day, although their 14 points were able to get them over the line for more points than Chama thus denying him the opportunity of outscoring Ajax.
The Nodders sit in sixth position in the seniors with a lot of work to be done if they are to make finals. The twos, who are led by our very own Mick Regan are sitting in second spot on the look out for back to back flags and will feature prominently in the September action.
The 19’s are in good form also with Ben Cunningham third on the association goal kicking ladder and the 19’s also expected to feature strongly in finals action.
A big match for the seniors against top side Caulfield this week. A big crowd expected to attend this week at Central Reserve with a cricket club presence now starting to build in amongst the undefeated ‘Ute Stand’ on the scoreboard side.
